LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Ali Akbar has been informed that the Punjab government has decided to remove encroachments from the Miani Sahib Graveyard from February 17.
The court was informed in a report submitted by the Punjab Secretary for Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) Sikandar Sultan Raza. The report said the secretary held a meeting that was attended by commissioner Lahore, member (colonies) board of revenue, operations senior superintendent police, deputy distric officer (general) and secretray Miani Sahib Graveyard Committee. The secretary formed a sub-committee in the meeting and asked it to verify the claims of those occupying the graveyard land.
The committee presented a report to the commissioner Lahore that indicated the claims to be bogus. The commissioner held a meeting and decided to take action against those occupying the land.
