Rawalpindi Master Plan Advances: Approval Granted for Land Classification Map

The District Planning and Design Committee DPDC has given the green light to the "land classification map" in a significant step towards finalizing Rawalpindi's eagerly awaited master plan. According to a news article dated December 3, a senior official revealed that the "land use classification plans" for six tehsils—Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, Taxila, Murree, Kotli Sattian, and Kahuta—have been concluded by the MMP. However, the declaration of Murree as a new district caused a temporary halt in the development of land use classification plans for Murree and Kotli Sattian. Local government administrators in Rawalpindi have already given their approval for the preparation of the master plan in their respective areas.

The approved land classification map, which is based on settlement (build-up area), will serve as the groundwork for the consultant to create a development plan in alignment with the new land classification (zoning) in Rawalpindi district. Following this announcement, the RDA is set to initiate the establishment of an economic zone around the Rawalpindi Ring Road upon the completion of the master plan.
