FBR Unveils New Strategy for Taxpayer Registration in Remote Areas

Islamabad: On October 9, national dailies reported that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched an innovative plan to register taxpayers in remote local districts and tehsils, with the goal of expanding the tax base.

This initiative is set to commence this week and hinges on the active participation of District Taxation Officers Inland Revenue. Within this scheme, District Taxation Officers from the Inland Revenue Service will be deployed to major cities nationwide. Their primary role will be to register new taxpayers and conduct essential surveys in areas where access to Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) is limited.

The forthcoming deployment of district taxation officers by the FBR is expected to bring about a significant transformation. It aims to establish the FBR's physical presence within local districts, facilitating the identification and registration of new taxpayers, and thereby boosting tax collection in previously underreported regions. Ultimately, this move is poised to substantially enhance overall tax compliance.
