BAHAWALPUR:
Rahim Yar Khan DCO Syed Tariq Mehmood Bukhari said on Sunday that it was imperative that the Lahore-Karachi motorway be completed on time.

“This project had been in the works for a very long time,” he said.

He was addressing a meeting with National Highway Authority Project Director Muhammad Kashif Nawaz.

He told Nawaz that the district administration would play its part to ensure timely completion of the project.



The DCO said the Treasury Department had cleared out lands pointed out by the NHA and steps were being taken for payment to the owners.

He said the motorway would bring about an economic revolution and improve living standards of people of the area. Nawaz said the Lahore-Karachi motorway would have a length of 145 kilometres in Rahim Yar Khan. He said 4,250 acres had been acquired in this regard.

Nawaz said the government had released Rs5 billion for payments to acquire the land. He said the Lahore-Karachi motorway was a vital project. He said cooperation of district and provincial governments along with citizens’ patience was essential for seeing the project to its completion. He said motorway would bring many development opportunities to the region.
