Work on Zulfikarabad bridge begins

THATTA, July 16: Work on the 6km long Dhandhari bridge which will connect the new Zulfikarabad city with Gharo began on Sunday after experts of a Chinese engineering firm started collecting soil samples along the right bank of the Indus.

Authorities have already approved a survey for an expressway which will connect Gharo to the bridge and to Shah Bunder.

The expressway from Dhandhari to Gharo will be 23km long and from Dhandhari to Shah Bunder 21km.

An official told visiting journalists that Zulfikarabad modelled on China’s Shanzen would be completed soon.

“The master plan of the Zulfikarabad project is an evolving document and not a stationery one and every issue from demographic, ecological, environmental or displacement of people would be addressed prior to its implementation,” PPP legislator Sadiq Ali
Memon told Dawn.

MPA Humaira Alwani said elected representatives should visit the area and remove people’s concern.
