Pakistan and a Chinese company Xiajiang Beixin construction & Engineering Corporation singed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) here on Sunday for the construction of houses, flats and commercial areas in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta under Prime Minister Housing Scheme.

Vice President of Xiajiang Beixin Corporation, Sun Yu and Managing Director, Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) Raja Muhammad Abbas signed the MoU. Under the agreement the Chinese company will build low cost housing units for the poor, needy government employees and general public besides developing commercial areas in the respective places.

On the occasion the Federal Secretary Housing and Working, Samiul Haq Khiliji said that the delegation of China held a detailed discussion with the Pakistan on the investment opportunities and expressed their keen interest in the housing projects.

He said the government is thankful to China for its cooperation in the socio-economic uplift of Pakistan, adding Pak-China cooperation in the construction sector would benefit the two countries to learn from each others’ experience in this vital field of economy.

Federal Secretary Housing and Works Samiul Haq Khiliji, Chief Engineering Advisor, Ali Abid DG PHA Shahid Nadeem and members of the Chinese delegation also attended the ceremony.
