PM orders strict action against responsible behind Kashmir Highway embezzlement
ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) to identify and take to task the culprits, involved in massive embezzlement in Kashmir Highway Project. The Prime Minister issued the directive after he was briefed by the officials of the Capital Development Authority at Kashmir Highway Project site office on Saturday. He said the government was fully committed to ensuring the provision of best road network and other amenities to the residents of the Federal Capital. “State exchequer has been robbed while undertaking the Kashmir Highway Project and all those responsible would be held accountable and taken to task,” he added.
The Prime Minister emphasized that best quality work and timely completion of the project must be ensured, adding “The quality of work on the project must match that of the Motorway.”
Chairman CDA briefed that the Kashmir Highway Project had suffered from neglect and mismanagement over the past several years and the citizens of Islamabad suffered due to the non-completion of the project on time.
He informed the meeting that rules and regulations were manipulated to benefit few contractors and officers in the past which resulted in delay, poor quality of work and a substantial increase in the cost of the project.
