Road or no road: decision today

Rawalpindi: A high-level committee will meet today to take a decision whether the planned Nullah Leh Expressway should be constructed or not. The committee would approve changes in its design and would also decide from which section the construction should commence, if at all it has to commence.

The Punjab government has allocated funds in its Annual Development Programme for the project. A special high-level committee has also been formed for its construction.

The committee consists of Rawalpindi DCO Saqib Zafar, DPRDA Chaudhary Naseer, Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Imdad Bosal, provincial finance sectary and provincial housing sectary.

The RDA has prepared a feasibility report on the project, which will be provided in 20 days. According to the source, the major decisions will be taken whether to complete full construction or portion of the expressway.

If constructed in portions, the expressway would start from Rialto Chowk. In the first phase, it would be constructed until Gawal Mandi. online
