LAHORE: The Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS), Islamabad, awarded Gold Medal 2011 to Government College University (GCU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleequr Rahman for his outstanding research in the field of physics.

Every year, only one of the best scientists in each subject receives the prestigious award for his contributions to the cause of science at the national and international levels. Prof Khaleeq is one of the most eminent physicists of Pakistan. In addition to over 100 research articles published in international journals, he has also written several books and articles on the subject of physics.

Previously, he had been awarded with the highest presidential award “Izaz-e-Kamal” for his meritorious service in the education sector. He received the “HEC Best Teacher Award” for his extraordinary academic work in 2008.
