KARACHI: The government of Sindh has finalised the plan to issue standardised registration plates to motorcycles from the coming financial year and a tender in this regard has already been approved.

This was informed in a meeting held at the office of provincial minister for excise and taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla. The consultant on policy, planning, police relations and home affairs Sharfuddin Memon, in this regard, has also stressed the need to provide complete data of government vehicles registered with the excise department to home department in order to streamline the proper registration and record of government vehicles, so that their misuse could be eliminated. He said the standardised number plates of motorcycles would also help in reducing crime.

The meeting also decided to trigger a joint campaign against the sale of narcotics in different areas of the city.
