LAHORE

The MET office has predicted heavy rains in the provincial capital and adjoining areas during the next 24 hours.

On Thursday, the city witnessed partly cloudy weather. The maximum temperature in the city was recorded as 36 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was 28 degree Celsius. Humidity in the air in the morning was 72 per cent and in the evening it was 61 per cent.

Partly cloudy weather will continue to prevail in the city, with chances of heavy but isolated rains during the next 24 hours.

According to MET officials, seasonal low lies over northern Balochistan and adjoining areas and Wednesday’s low over west Rajistan (India) and adjoining areas continue to persist. The southeast monsoon current is penetrating in sub-mountainous areas of Punjab and Kashmir upto 5,000 feet.

The officials added that fresh, well-marked monsoon had developed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Orissa (India), which might bring a new wave of rains into the country in the coming days.

On Thursday, several cities received rain, with Larkana (131 mm), Khanpur (121 mm), Parachinar and DG Khan (65 mm each), Rahim Yar Khan (57 mm), TT Singh (50 mm), Jacobabad and DI Khan (39 mm each), Bahawalpur (32 mm), Kotli and Bahawalnagar (18 mm each), Rohri and Skardu (14 mm each), Shorkot (13 mm), Bhakkar (12 mm), Sibbi and Islamabad (08 mm each), Jhang, Rawalakot and Chakdara (02 mm each), Sarai-e-Alamgir, Quetta, Jhelum, Sahiwal, Badin and Lahore (trace).
