ISLAMABAD: United States embassy on Wednesday refuted media reports that the US was in any way involved in the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

In a statement, US embassy spokesman Richard Snelsire said that Lt. Gen. (retd) Hamid Gul has repeatedly asserted these outrageous and baseless claims.

Snelsire maintained that the United States rejects the false allegations made by Gul and at the time of Bhutto’s murder the US swiftly and publicly condemned the act and called for an independent investigation.

He added that Gul gave no proof for his allegations against the United States.—DawnNews
