Karachi: Construction of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park starts

KARACHI: The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has started work on the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park located near Boat Basin within the limits of Clifton.

CDGK Parks Director General Liaquat Ali Khan, being incharge of the park project, briefed the District Coordination Officer (DCO) Karachi Muhammad Javed Hanif Khan about the project on Sunday. The DCO urged for the timely completion of the park.

While talking to Daily Times, Liaquat Ali Khan said that the federal government has allocated funds worth Rs 870 million for the park, of which, the first installment, worth Rs 300 million, were released on May 4. The remaining amount would be released in the next financial year, he added.

The park would cover 150-acres of land and would be completed within six months, as construction of the park has been initiated this week after the release of funds.

It would consist of a small jetty for boating, while other facilities such as a board walk, a jogging track, a stone path, stone canopies and food courts would also be constructed in the park.
