LAHORE: The Mayo Hospital administration has installed a bathtub in the bathroom of its medical superintendent (MS).

No government official has been given such a facility, as it is not considered one of their entitled facilities.

The tub was installed during the renovation of the MS office at a cost of Rs 500,000.

Mayo Hospital MS Dr Zafar said, “I did not install the bathtub and I am thinking about how to remove it. Former MS Dr Fayyaz Ranjha had the bathtub installed.”

However, Dr Ranjha said that he had not asked for the installation of the bathtub, adding that the contractor had installed it on complimentary basis. “The hospital should not remove the bathtub, because it will be costly,” he added.

Mayo Hospital Additional MS (Store) Dr Majeed Chaudhry said that his department had not been involved in the renovation work, but added that it was Dr Ranjha who had sent the feasibility report for the renovation work and asked him to release the funds. He said that Dr Ranjha had also insisted on the installation of the bathtub.

He said Dr Ranjha had been suspended recently on mismanagement charges, adding that the Punjab government had later tasked Dr Ranjha with providing free medicine to poor patients in all public hospitals.
