KARACHI: Security officers at the Karachi airport have arrested a Greek man on accusations he tried to smuggle a handgun hidden in a laptop onto a plane.
Airport security official Col. Jamshed Hayat Niazi said the man was arrested at the airport on Sunday as he tried to board a flight to Dubai, where he was to catch another plane to Athens.
Niazi said officials found a 9 mm pistol concealed in the laptop's battery compartment as luggage passed through a security scanner.
He said police are interrogating the man. He declines to identify the man or say whether the gun was part of a hijacking attempt
