Drug case: Saudis release five Pakistanis - Naveed Yaseen - 09-24-2009 05:39 AM

ISLAMABAD (September 24 2009): Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik has said that the Saudi government has released five Pakistanis implicated in a drug smuggling case and they would return to Pakistan in a few days. "A three-member special team of FIA would leave for Saudi Arabia in four to five days to escort the released Pakistanis back home", he said while talking to reporters on Eid day.

Rehman expressed gratitude to Saudi royal family, especially Saudi Interior Minister Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz for his unconditional support for release of innocent Pakistanis. The detained Pakistani pilgrims will be back to Pakistan by September 28 after legal requirements in Saudi Arabia will are fulfilled, the minister added.

He said that there were three main accused, believed to be involved in the heinous crime of drug smuggling to Saudi Arabia, including Sarwat Hussain Shah, Safia and Faraz Hussain. All these accused are in custody while mastermind, Abdul Jabbar Tanioo, is still at large and would be brought to task soon, he added.
