City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal inaugurated the first hawker zone in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Wednesday.
Talking to the media, Nazim Mustafa Kamal said that Haq Parast leadership wants to create job opportunities for jobless youths of the city so that they could earn bread and butter for their families.
ìIt is for the first time in the city’s history that a complete strategy has been adopted in accordance with the approved resolution of City Council and hawker zones are being established in all the towns under Urban Space Management Programme.
These hawker zones are being set up at the place of illegal pushcart vendors,î he added.
He said that besides creating hurdlers on footpaths these illegal pushcart vendors also generate problems in the traffic flow in the metropolis.
