Staff Report

LAHORE: People including foreign tourists thronged the zoo, museum and parks on Sunday as weather in the city turned pleasant. The rain, however, inundated various roads of the city, making it tough for commuters to move.

Lahore Zoo Director Yousaf Paul told Daily Times that around 20,000 people visited the zoo on Sunday, which was substantially more compared to last Sunday’s attendance. He said that the main attractions included lions, elephant and monkeys. He said that the pleasant weather had allowed people to come to the zoo and added that the trend would continue if the weather remained pleasant.

A security official at the Lahore Museum said that many families visited the museum due to the pleasant weather. Groups of foreigners also visited the museum.

The Meteorological Office has forecast rain and thunderstorms in Lahore and surrounding areas today.

The weather remained cloudy on Sunday and the maximum temperature dropped to 32 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Office recorded 10mm and 23mm of rain at the Lahore Airport and other parts of the city respectively. Humidity was recorded at 72 percent in the morning and later dropped to 62 percent. A breeze also helped improve the weather. Rain was recorded in many areas of the city including the Walled City, Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Shadman, Gulberg, Model Town and Johar Town.

Flood situation: The Meteorological Office said that the River Indus and River Ravi were in low flood at Guddu and Balloki respectively. Officials added that all other rivers were flowing below the low flood level.
