ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will soon launch seven new sectors to overcome growing residential problems in the capital, a CDA official told Daily Times on Friday.

He said the new sectors would be C-13, C-14, C-15, C-16, D-13, E-13 and F-13. The authority, he added, had allocated Rs 2,736 million for acquisition of land in the current CDA budget. Documentary work for launching new sectors had been completed and negotiations were underway for acquisition of land, the official said.

He said launching of new sectors was encouraging, but the CDA needed to accelerate development work on the already launched sectors including D-12, G-12, I-14, and I-16.

Currently, he added, there was a shortage of 40,000 housing units in the federal capital, which had increased real estate prices manifold. The existing number of houses in the city was 70,000 while 110,000 housing units were required, he said, adding each year the demand was increased by 5,000 units.

“The current situation has made it very difficult for the people having monthly income from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 to get residential accommodation in the capital,” he said.

Asadullah Faiz, CDA director land, confirmed to Daily Times that the authority would launch new sectors and in this regard planning was under consideration to properly compensate the affected people. He said major allocation had been made in the current year CDA budget for acquisition of land and the new sectors would be launched very soon.

Stadium for special persons: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started a Rs 5.5 million project to construct a stadium for special persons in Sector F-10, Online reported. A CDA Culture Directorate official said the stadium would be the first of its kind in the country and akin to a special persons’ stadium established in New York, the USA.
