PESHAWAR: Nazim of Town-I Shaukat Khan Sunday said that Pakistan could earn millions of dollars by exporting precious gemstones after value addition.

Shaukat was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of 4th Gem Bazaar organised by Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) at its Gem Exchange Namak Mandi, Peshawar.

The ‘Gem Bazaar’ is the fourth of its kind in Peshawar, which will provide a lucrative opportunity and platform to those interested in buying and selling gemstones and mineral specimen. Around 60 exhibitors displayed their gemstones and mineral specimen in the bazaar. A variety of gemstones and mineral specimen were displayed under one roof, where interested buyers had the maximum exposure to a wide range of quality display.

Shaukat Khan said that such initiatives by the PGJDC would raise confidence, motivation and trust in company for the development of the industry. He said such processes would further enhance the value chain productivity of the sector, which, he said, would also enable the miners to rise above unnecessary exploitation and deprivation from direct trading.

Fawad H Khan, CEO, PGJDC, while speaking on the occasion, said that the Gem Bazaar had been organised in a professional manner, which would ensure high security and transparency in trading. He said the organisation would continue its efforts for the development of Gems and Jewellery Industry of Pakistan.

The CEO said: “such initiatives by the company would boost confidence, motivation and trust on PGJDC initiatives for the development of the industry. He said it would further enhance the value chain productivity of the sector, which would also enable the miners to rise above unnecessary exploitation and deprivation of direct trading”.

Fawad said, “Interested buyers will be exposed to quality products on competitive prices, which will add tangible value to their business endeavours”.
