CDA approves two mega underpasses for the capital - Salman - 01-23-2015 05:27 PM

ISLAMABAD: The CDA has approved PC-1 plan of two mega underpasses to be constructed in the federal capital in a bid to tackle the growing traffic flow.
In order to facilitate the commuters particularly the residents of Islamabad, Capital Development Authority Development Working Party (CDADWP) approved the PC-I for construction of two under-passes at Faisal Avenue. Meeting of CDADWP was held here on Thursday at CDA Headquarters. According to details, one under-pass between Sector G-7 and G-8 and the other under-pass between Sector F-7 and F-8, with the estimated cost of Rs.850.215 million will be built. This public welfare project will not only facilitate the residents of these sectors but would also help maintain the traffic flow on the Faisal Avenue. The scheme shall be financed through CDA’s own resources. To minimize the response time of CDA’s fire service in case of fire occurrence or any other emergency situation, CDADWP approved the establishment of four more fire sub-stations in different sectors of Islamabad and up-gradation of fire sub-station located in Sector G-5 Islamabad also. The PC-I for project of establishment of four new fire sub-stations and up-gradation of fire sub-station of Sector G-5 was approved with the cost of 408.178 million.
CDADWP in its meeting on Thursday also approved the PC-I of the project for the construction of additional block at Capital Hospital for providing better medical facilities to CDA employees and to accommodate more patients. The estimated cost of this project is Rs. 87.696 million. With construction of new block maximum number of patients would be accommodated at Capital Hospital.
In order to facilitate the general public especially the trader community of Islamabad, PC-I for the construction of bridge in I&T central sector G-10/4 was also approved. The estimated cost of this project is Rs. 87.696 million.
During the meeting of CDADWP the body revised PC-I of the project for dualization of Lehtrar Road from Tramrri Chowk to PINSTECH with the cost of Rs.1161.939 millions, which was approved.
CDA chairman has directed the relevant formations of the authority to take immediate and effective steps for initiating the public welfare projects, which were approved during the meeting so that residents of Islamabad could be served in further better ways. CDA chairman said that initiation of new public welfare projects and early completion of ongoing development projects are among the priorities of the authority and CDA would utilize all its available resources for timely completion of these projects.
The meeting was chaired by CDA Chairman, Maroof Afzal while Administration and Estate Member Amer Ali Ahmed, Finance Member Arbab Sher Bahadar, Planning and Design Member Waseem Ahmed Khan, Environment Member Syed Mustafain Kazmi, Engineering Member Shahid Sohail, officers of Planning and Cabinet Division and P&E Director Hafiz Ehsan-ul-Haq also attended the meeting
Drainage at I.J Principal road in sector I-9 was improved at the cost of Rs5 million whereas the routine maintenance (Patch work) is being carried out through departmental labour. The road from Metro to NESCOM Chowk, has recently been repaired through departmental labour and road frothy, an official in Cabinet Division told APP. He said that NESCOM to Police Lines road was re-habilitated by providing concrete pavement at an approximate Cost of Rs.220 million. Giving further details, the official said maintenance of Ibn-e-Sina road was carried out though departmental labour and maintenance of Khadda Market, G-7 was carried out at cost of Rs.3.5 million. Improvement of road parking, footpath and drainage system in I&T Centre, G-9/4 has been carried out at a cost of Rs16 million, whereas the quality of work has been ensured, he said.
