PM Nawaz visits Turkey’s low cost housing scheme - Salman - 09-19-2013 05:27 PM
ANKARA: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday visited Turkey's low cost housing project Toki, with a view to establish similar housing schemes in Pakistan.
Turkish Minister for Housing Erdogan Bayraktar briefed the Prime Minister about the housing project that provides houses to low income families at affordable prices.
He apprised the Prime Minister that under this project, Turkey's slum areas had been developed into beautiful residential schemes.
He expressed the interest of Turkish government to invest in Pakistan's housing sector.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan could learn from the experience of Turkey, the way it constructed houses for lower and middle classes of society.
He invited Turkish businessmen to visit Pakistan and invest in the housing sector.
He also mentioned his meeting with Turkish housing investors in Pakistan thrice and said this sector had the vast potential for investment for the growing population of 180 million.
