ISLAMABAD : The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will construct flyovers at Peshawar Morr and IJ Principal Road crossing, as its financial conditions are getting better through auctioning of residential and commercial plots in different sectors of the federal capital.Chairman of the CDA, Syed Tahir Shahbaz has said that confidence of the masses in the civic body has increased and the CDA is now devising a development strategy. Under the plan, tenders are being announced for the development of sectors including E-12, I-12 and I-15, he said.He said that a special attention is being paid on the infrastructure of in the city and flyovers would be built at Peshawar Morr and IJP Road Crossing. Moreover, all the roads in the city would be gradually carpeted, he said, adding that Fazl-e-Haq Road and Nazimudding Roads would be connected to the roads on the other side of Faisal Avenue through an underpass. The chairman said that two new sectors — sectors C-15 and C-16 — would be initiated next month, and municipal services revenue would be increased. He said that end of encroachments in the markets would be emphasised now onward.Meanwhile, electricity of Municipal Administration offices of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) located in Sector G-7 could not be restored despite passage of three days, creating troubles for the residents of the federal capital. The civic authority did not pay the electricity bills to Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO) therefore the company had disconnected electricity of the municipal offices. Owing to the situation, most of the functions of the offices are stopped and the residents have to return home without getting their works done. The officials of the civic body told INP that system of issuing death and birth certificates is computerized, which has also become dysfunctional due to lack of electricity. Zahoor Rashid, a resident of Sector I-8, said that his father died 15 days ago and he needed to get his death certificate. He said he had completed all the requirements to get the death certificate including fee submission but could not get it as the concerned officials said that all computers were non-functional due to electricity disconnection. The officials said that the wireless of the fire brigade, whose office is in DMA offices of the civic body, is also dysfunctional as it has no alternative power source. Residents demanded of the CDA high-ups to resolve the problem as soon as possible to save them from all the inconvenience.
