LDA demolishes 3 illegal colonies - Salman - 01-10-2013 01:27 PM

LAHORE, Jan 8: The Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA’s) metropolitan planning wing demolished on Tuesday three illegal private housing schemes, says an LDA spokesman.

The officials demolished the gates, boundary walls, sewerage system and other infrastructure of Ali Homes at Nigar crossing level along Katcha Road, Subhan Gardens and Akhtarabad Housing Scheme at old Kahna.

The spokesperson said the action would spread awareness among the public about the status of housing schemes. He said the LDA had advised the people to confirm the status of private housing schemes from the LDA. Details about approved private schemes can be obtained from counter No 3 of the LDA One-Window Cell in Johar Town.

PROCESSION: The City District Government of Lahore (CGDL) directed on Tuesday the officials to arrange foolproof security and administrative arrangements for the procession of Chehlum (arbaeen) of Hazrat Imam Husain (AS) on Jan 11.

“The officials are required to make all necessary arrangements such as cleanliness, patchwork, lighting and security on the route of the procession,” District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal said at a meeting.

He also ordered removal of encroachments and hanging electricity wires at Akbari Bazaar by Wednesday (today). He also directed Lahore Parking Company officials to make parking arrangements for the mourners.

The DCO also urged Shia leaders to end the procession as per deadline in order to avoid any untoward incident. He directed the officials to set up a control room at the DCO office to monitor the procession through CCTV cameras.

REGULARISATION: The CDGL administration regularised the services of 11 daily wage employees (grade 1 to 7) on the direction of the Lahore High Court.

They include Ali Zulfiqar, Syed Zaheer Husain Shah, Syed Shahid Abbas, Naqash Wakeel, Wasif Bashir, Muhammad Imran, Sohail Idrees, Hafiz Syed, Shahzad, Hafiz Muhammad Furqan, Shakeel Ahmad and Shahbaz Ali.

TRANSFER/POSTRING: The LDA on Tuesday issued transfer and posting orders of various officials, according to a press release.

Basit Aziz, assistant director (general cadre) was transferred and posted as estate officer in the Directorate of Estate Management-II. Hammad Saleem, assistant director (general cadre), was transferred and posted assistant director in the Directorate of Estate Management-1. Basit Naseer, assistant director (general cadre), was transferred and posted as assistant director in the LDA Directorate of Record Management.

The services of Ghulam Abbas, assistant director (general cadre), was placed at the disposal of Additional Director General (housing).

CHARGE: Abdul Razzaq (assistant director of law), working as deputy director law, in the Directorate of Estate Management-I of the LDA was entrusted with the additional charge of deputy director (law) in the Directorate of Estate Management-II.
