LAHORE, Dec 13: Following a detailed survey on the construction of illegally-constructed houses by owners of various approved housing societies/schemes in the provincial metropolis, the Lahore Development Authority on Thursday issued notices to developers of over 20 schemes for doing so without getting houses/building plans/drawings approved from the competent authority.

The residential schemes/societies whose owners constructed houses include PIA Housing Society, Awasia Housing Society, Air Lines Housing Society, Architect and Engineers Housing Society, Punjab Government Employees Cooperative Housing Society, PCSIR Staff Society Phase-2, Iqbal Avenue Phase-1, NFC Employees Society Phase-1, UET Society, Eden Value Homes, River Edge, Chanar Bagh, Army Welfare Trust Society, Fazaiya Housing Society, Central Park, Elite Town, Bahria Town, Valencia Town, Engineers Town, Khayaban-e-Amin, Tricon Valley, Sukh Chain Garden, Aitchison College Society and Punjab University Employees Cooperative Housing Society.

According to an LDA spokesman, the LDA administration has also directed the developers to get their houses/building plans approved from the authority within a week failing which a legal action against them will be taken.

Meanwhile, the LDA commercialization wing has abolished the temporary commercialization system/policy, issuing notices to dozens of buildings’ owners for getting their properties commercialized permanently at 48 commercial declared roads.

The administration has also asked the owners to get this job done before Dec 31, 2012. The commercial activity had been allowed on 48 roads in LDA schemes under the Land Use Rules 2009.

COMMITTEE: To provide welfare facilities as well as financial assistance to deserving employees, the LDA has constituted a committee for the disbursement/utilization of the Welfare Fund in this regard.

Headed by the additional director-general (HQ), the committee will include director administration, director finance and director communication and infrastructure as members.

The committee will scrutinize the requests of deserving employees of the LDA to give recommendations to the director-general in the light of unanimous decisions.

A financial assistance of Rs25,000 will be given to an employee or his dependent in case of a minor accident and Rs50,000 in case of a major accident.

In case of any loss caused due to natural calamities, the financial assistance of Rs25,000 to Rs50,000 will be given to the employee on the basis of strong evidence/proof and recommendations of the committee.

An Eid allowance of Rs2,000 will be given to all employees in BS-01 to BS-16 from the Welfare Fund on both Eidul Fitr and Eidul Azha. The same amount will be granted to Christian fellows on the occasions of Easter and Christmas. The financial assistance of Rs50,000 will be given to an employee on his/her marriage or on the marriage of his dependents such as son and daughter.

However, a copy of “nikah nama” will have to be submitted within 30-days from the receipt of the assistance. In the case of self, this facility will be extended only once in the entire service.

The financial assistance will be given to the dependents of an employee who are regular students and fulfill the criteria prescribed for this purpose by the LDA.

ACTION: The Commercialisation Directorate staff sealed on Thursday 25 properties on College Road, Township, after their owners failed to deposit commercialization fee despite being served repeated notices in this regard.

POSTING: Ahmed Mumtaz Ali Khan, Director Land Development-IV, has been transferred and directed to report to Administration Directorate, LDA.

Moazzam Rasheed, Land Development-III director, has been entrusted with the additional charge of the post of Land Development-IV director vice Ahmed Mumtaz.

The posting orders of Farhana Mumtaz as Deputy Director Law Directorate have been cancelled/withdrawn with immediate effect and her services have been placed at the disposal of Additional Director General (Housing for further posting.

Muhammad Zubair Khan, Assistant Director (General Cadre), has been reinstated and posted as Assistant Director in the Directorate of Education in the LDA.
