CDA told to repair bridges, footpaths - Lahore_Real_Estate - 02-28-2012 12:29 PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Task Force on Islamabad Chairman Faisal Sakhi Butt on Monday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to immediately repair broken bridges, sewerage lines, footpaths, and retaining walls of drains in different areas of the city to facilitate the residents. During his visit to the site of a damaged retaining wall and a bridge on a nullah flowing through Sector G-7/2 on Service Road (North), the chairman said that such vulnerable points might cause serious accidents, so their repair was mandatory. He said a number of infrastructures in the city were damaged, which needed immediate attention. He said many footpaths in the city were also damaged, sewerage lines broken, retaining wall missing and roads developing potholes. “These small problems are not being addressed on a priority basis, which results in accidents.” He said ignoring such vulnerable points was criminal negligence on the part of authorities concerned. He said those responsible for such criminal acts would be taken to task in case of accidents. Butt said the organisations responsible should take remedial measures at the earliest to avoid any untoward incidents. CDA Engineering Member Sanaullah Aman, Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) Deputy Director General Shahid Sohail and Road Marketing Director Ali Anwar Gopang were also present on the occasion.
