Lahore ring road, bus rapid transit system reviewed

Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting in Lahore which reviewed the pace of progress on the agreements signed between Punjab government and Turkey for cooperation in energy, transport, solid waste management, construction and other sectors.

Provincial Minister Ch. Abdul Ghafoor and Members Provincial Assembly Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad, Hafiz Mian Nauman, Chairman Planning & Development, secretaries of various departments, Commissioner and District Coordination Officer Lahore and officers concerned were present.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the agreements signed between Punjab and Turkey for cooperation in various sectors will be given a practical shape expeditiously.

He said that joint ventures in energy, transport, solid waste management, construction, mining and other sectors will be completed in a transparent manner.

The Chief Minister while issuing instructions for formation of a committee comprising Provincial Ministers, Assembly Members and government officers for the speedy implementation of these projects said that the committee will meet on weekly basis to review the pace of progress while he will preside over a meeting for this purpose on monthly basis.

Secretaries of various departments and Commissioner Lahore Division informed the meeting about their visit to Turkey and the pace of progress on the joint ventures between Turkey and Punjab. The participants of the meeting also gave their proposals regarding these projects.
