Show to boost Pak-UAE investments

ABU DHABI - The UAE is organising a single country exhibition in Karachi, a show aimed at encouraging investments and industrial ventures between the two nations.

Mohammed Nasser Hamdan Al Zaabi, director promotion at the Ministry of Foreign Trade, speaking to reporters at the Pakistan Pavilion at the SIAL Middle East 2011, said that over 50 public sector and other companies are participating at the show with full force. He said that the main objective of this show is to seeking Pakistani investments into upcoming business opportunities in the UAE, where new industrial zones are offering exciting business opportunities. Shaikha Lubna Al Qassimi, Minister of Foreign Trade will also attend the show, which will kick off on November 30 and conclude on December 2.

He said that the UAE’s industrialists and investors are keen to investment there. One day investment conference is part of the exhibition. “This will be a beginning of series of events that will boost the trade and investments between the UAE and Pakistan,” Al Zaabi said.

“The investment is a main part of it, as there are many investment opportunities coming up in the UAE, ” he said. “We will to open doors for the UAE businessmen in Pakistan and also to open doors for Pakistani businessmen here,” he added. Business analysts see huge investment opportunities for the UAE companies in Pakistan, where it already has strong presence on the ground. UAE public and private sector has invested $21 billion in energy, telecommunication, real estate, aviation and banking, in the country.

The bilateral trade between the two countries stood at $9 billion.Sharjah Airport International Free Zones, Rak Free Trade Zone are organising seminars in Karachi these days, to providing guidance to Pakistani businessmen encouraging them to benefit from the UAE’s huge market potential. Responding to a question, Ambassador Jamil Khan said Pakistan will provide maximum support to the UAE businessmen in setting joint ventures in the area of defence productions.
