Shahbaz attacks past rulers over project success qualms - Lahore_Real_Estate - 05-23-2011 04:55 PM

LAHORE - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, while praising his Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) for realizing the dream of the common man for the first time in the history of the country, said on Sunday that the Aashiyana Housing Scheme was only meant for the poor labourers, widows and the families of the martyrs.
Talking to media persons during his visit to Bhatta Chowk, the chief minister said it was mind-boggling for him why some elements were criticizing the project. In a veiled attack on the past rulers, Shahbaz said: “In fact those who have done nothing for the poor working classes during their tenure and have instead looted our national resources in the name of development projects are critical of this project.”
Member Provincial Assembly Mian Naseer Ahmad, Commissioner Nadeem Hassan Asif, Parks & Horticulture Authority DG Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, District Coordination Officer Ahad Cheema and Brig. Shahid Majeed of the National Logistic Cell were also present on the occasion.
Talking about the Bhatta Chowk road widening project, the CM said that the project was initiated as there was a heavy load of traffic at that point and the road users were confronting a serious problem on daily basis. The construction work, he said, had been completed in a record period of time and the project was unparalleled with regard to its standards.
He congratulated Member National Assembly Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Members Provincial Assembly Yaseen Sohail, Mian Naseer Ahmad, Commissioner and DCO of Lahore, Sector-in-Charge National Logistic Cell Brig. Shahid Majeed and his team on the high standard of construction work and timely completion of the project. Shahbaz said the project would soon be inaugurated formally.
The chief minister said that in accordance with the policy of Punjab government, maximum plantation would be carried out for the beatification of the project and instructions had been issued to the PHA DG in this regard. Earlier, Commissioner Nadeem Hassan Asif gave a detailed briefing regarding the Bhatta Chowk extension project.
