‘Gwadar to boost Balochistan’s economy’


QUETTA: A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani reviewed ongoing projects and other issues of coastal regions of Balochistan.

According to a handout issued on Sunday, the meeting was also attended by Speaker Balochistan Assembly Muhammad Aslam Bhootani, Balochistan Ministers Mir Hamal Kalamati, Syed Ahsan Shah, and Mir Zahoor Buledi, Chief Secretary Balochistan Mir Ahmed Bakhsh Lehri, Gawadar Development Authority (GDA) Director General Muhammad Ali Changezi, Balochistan Coastal Development Authority (BCDA) Director General Akbar Lashari, Finance Secretary, Secretary and Managing Director Fisheries and other senior officials.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Raisani said the operational Gawadar Port will boost Balochistan’s economy. He said luggage and goods of Afghan Transit Trade and Nato can be transported to Afghanistan from the Gwadar Port. He said the provincial government had evolved a comprehensive plan to make the port completely operational.

Raisani, however, added that technically trained persons are needed for Rekodeq and Saindak projects. He hoped that the income from Rekodeq and Saindak projects will open a door of progress and prosperity to Balochistan.

Raisani underlined the need to promote education in Balochistan to get goals of development. He said medical colleges and universities will be established in the province at divisional level.The officials briefed the meeting on ongoing uplift projects in coastal regions of the province.
