LAHORE: Law enforcement agencies have discovered that the suicide attack on the Special Intelligence Agency (SIA) office had been planned in Lahore, sources told Daily Times on Thursday.

According to sources, initial investigations had revealed that the attackers had been facilitated by “residents of Township and Green Town”. “Immediately after the attack, law enforcers received messages on their cell phones, in which the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility and threatened of similar attacks. Later, using tracers and scanner technology available with the authorities, they managed to trace the location of the cell phone which had sent the message, discovering that it had been sent from somewhere in Township and Green Town. The authorities immediately deputed plainclothes policemen in both areas and arrested several suspects,” the sources said.

Earmarked: Investigators have earmarked Township and Green Town as the prime location for finding the militants responsible for the attacks, the sources said.

Held: They added that in raids since Mondays’ attack, law enforcement agencies had checked several auto workshops and arrested an undisclosed number of Afghan nationals. They said that investigations had revealed that the vehicles used in the attacks on the building of 15 police emergency and the SIA office had been prepped somewhere in New Green Town area.
