ISLAMABAD: Justice Javed Iqbal, senior judge of Supreme Court (SC) has remarked illegal plazas be demolished by their owners on their own otherwise these would have to be demolished.

He gave these remarks during the hearing of multi storeyed buildings case here Tuesday. A 3-member bench of SC resumed the hearing of the case pertaining to demolition of illegal plazas by Lahore Development Authority (LDA).

Justice Javed Iqbal further remarked decision of SC was already there about the illegal multistoreyed buildings and the court could not deviate from this verdict.

The owners of these plazas were also present on the occasion. Counsel for the owners of the plazas prayed the court the LDA staff was continuing their operation for demolishing the plazas. The owners had invested billion of rupees in these plazas, he told. Therefore interim stay order b e issued against demolition of these plazas till the decision of the court, he requested.

On inquiry from the court, Mian Iftikhar, counsel for LDA informed the court inquiry report with respect to Rana Sana Ullah plaza had not been finalized so far and it would be presented before the court as soon as it was completed.

Hearing of the case was adjourned till February, 12.
