ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has sent a list of assets and properties of President Asif Ali Zardari to be frozen by the Sindh government but bureau officials are reluctant to disclose the details.

National Accountability Bureau officials appear to have been caught between the devil and the deep blue sea on the issue as the latest list has to be compared with the NAB list released officially in 2006. It is yet not sure that all the assets of President Zardari would be frozen or this exercise will be restricted to a selected few properties.

Well-placed sources in the National Accountability Bureau say that NAB’s letter to the Chief Secretary (CS), Sindh, covers all those assets of the president which were mentioned in the assets case of Asif Ali Zardari but the spokesman for the National Accountability Bureau, Ghazni Khan, only confirmed that a letter regarding seizing president’s assets had been written to the CS Sindh but he did not know the details.

“I am not aware of the details of assets mentioned in the said letter,” Ghazni replied when asked about the details of assets.

Interestingly, the NAB had submitted a list of Asif Ali Zardari’s assets within and outside Pakistan in Accountability Court No 1, Rawalpindi, on March 31, 2006, which was widely reported by national and foreign media.
