LAHORE

A team from Lahore Grammar School completed a unique hat-trick by winning the NASA Asian Regional Space Settlement Design Competition, held from January 28 to 31 at Gurgaon, India.

The high-intensity competition, which emulates real-life experience in the aerospace industry, requires school-level participants to design a settlement in space, conforming to exacting technical standards and complex scientific principles.

The success of a group of girls from Pakistan in this prestigious event, judged by experts who include NASA representatives is proof of the immense potential of Pakistan’s young women.

The group competed in this semi-final against four other teams from Pakistan and eight from India. It was paired with two teams from India, and will now go on to the finals this summer in the US.

One of the school representatives, Sana Nusrat was awarded the prestigious Dick Edward Award for emerging as the best organizer for her team amongst all the participants.

The team is expected to arrive at the Wahga border Feb 3 afternoon. The administration is optimistic it will receive support from the Punjab government. The award of course is an honour not just for the school but the country as a whole.
