LAHORE: Mr. Shahid Rashid, Chief Executive Officer of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) is going to inaugurate first exhibition of the products "Made in Gujranwala" today(Tuesday) at Gujranwala Business Center (GBC), a project recently completed by SMEDA in collaboration with Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
According to SMEDA, Gujranwala Business Centre has been established with the aim to provide a promotional and shared display facility for the products produced by Gujranwala Industry, especially that of small and medium entrepreneurs.
The project is a joint initiative of SMEDA and GCCI. In the total cost of Rs.148.78 million, GCCI shared Rs. 50 million in the shape of land. The rest of cost amounting to Rs. 98.78 million has been met by government of Pakistan from Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) fund.
The funds were released through SMEDA who played the basic role on behalf of government in completion of the center under private-public partnership.
GBC has the capacity of 130 stalls of 10’X10’ size which have been made available to the manufacturers of Gujranwala to present and promote their products both locally and internationally. All the floors are air conditioned with continuous electric supply.
The first exhibition to be inaugurated by SMEDA CEO will remain open for next two months. Stalls from various potential industrial sectors including Ceramics, Sanitary Fittings, Electric Equipment, Furniture, Hosiery, Textile, Home Appliances, Construction, Cutlery, Utensils, Engineering and Agricultural Implements have been placed on display in the exhibition.
The industrial hub of Gujranwala was in dire need of an advanced business center to promote its products under one roof. Gujranwala Business Centre is equipped with the latest available technology. Display and presentation facilities are the core attraction of Gujranwala Business Centre.
