‘Govt planning 10 new residential sectors’

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The government informed the Senate on Tuesday that 10 new residential sectors were being planned in the federal capital. In a written reply, Cabinet Division Minister In-charge Farooq Naik said the Capital Development Authority (CDA) had planned D-13, E-13, F-13, D-14, I-17, C-13, C-14, C-15, C-16 and H-16 residential sectors in Islamabad.

The House was informed that the government was working on the acquisition of land for these sectors and on the announcement of awarding of plots in four of the sectors. The minister said the award for the remaining sectors would be announced within a month and the acquisition process was likely to be completed by July 2009. The minister said that the possessions of plots for the low-income allottees in Sector I-15 would be handed over on the completion of the basic infrastructure by November 2010.

He said three out of four instalments for the plots in Sector I-15 have been received, and the last instalment will be received when the plots are handed over to the allottees.

Farooq said that there are 12 quarterly instalments for the apartments, out of which seven have already been received, adding that the CDA had deferred the remaining instalments until the development work on the apartments was completed.

The minister in-charge said the tender for infrastructure work including roads, drainage, bridges, water supply and sewerage system will be called by September 30, 2008, while the tender for the apartments’ construction was scheduled by October 30, 2008.
