LAHORE

CONTINUING its drive against illegal high-rises, the Lahore Development Authority started demolishing three more multi-storey plazas on the Model Town Link Road here on Sunday.

The operation against high-rises was started on December 6 and presently the LDA was in the process of demolishing six plazas, including the Ahad Tower, Rabi Centre, Inam Complex, ArRehman Medical Center, Jeff Heights and Big City in different localities of the city.

On Sunday, the LDA officials, along with cranes and other demolishing equipments, reached the Model Town Link Road and started demolishing Tariq Center, Bridal House and another multi-storey plaza on the road.

The officials said that all the three plazas were constructed against the LDA’s building laws and had serious deficiencies in their structure. The plazas did not leave any parking space and one of them was constructed on a residential plot, they said and added that demolition of the plazas was ordered by the commission of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The officials said the drive against illegal high-rises would continue and in the first phase the LDA had identified 41 high-rises for demolishing out of which work had started on nine buildings.
