Islamabad: The Ministry Of Interior has issued a notification declaring non-fastening of seatbelts, using mobile phones and use of high beam at night during driving as violations of law and fixed fine for each violation.

According to SSP (Traffic) Zubair Hashmi, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) would start penalising the violators from today (Monday) and no relaxation would be given to anybody. To overcome the road accidents, a formal notification has been issued by the Ministry of Interior declaring non-fastening of seatbelt as violation under section 48-I, use of mobile phone is prohibited U/S 48-II and the use of high beam during night is restricted U/S 19-I of Motor Vehicle Ordinance. Rs300 fine will be imposed U/S 48-I and 48-II while Rs200 fine will be imposed U/S 19-I. The ITP had launched awareness campaign two months ago for creating awareness among the public regarding above violations.
