The structural design of a new plan for beefing up security in the ‘Red Zone,’ including Diplomatic Enclave, was discussed at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Commissioner Fazeel Asghar here on Wednesday, the deputy commissioner’s office said.

The meeting was attended by Inspector General of Police Syed Kaleem Imam, Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed, Director Development and Finance Anita Turab and high officials of the concerned departments.

The participants of the meeting were also briefed on the survey report of ‘Red Zone’ conducted by officials of the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration and Islamabad Police.

The PC-1 of the new security plan for ‘Red Zone’ will be prepared by the Capital Development Authority. A fence will be raised around the ‘Red Zone,’ including Diplomatic Enclave, under the plan.

The participants were informed that the new system will further enhance security and surveillance in the ‘Red Zone’.

It was decided in the meeting that the structural design of PC-1 will also include installation of grilled gates at the entry points of ‘Red Zone,’ where necessary drop down barriers will also be installed. Besides this, walkthrough gates and CCTV cameras will also be installed and guard rooms, washrooms and operation rooms will also be constructed close to the gates.

It was also decided in the meeting that aesthetic sense will be kept in view while preparing the PC-1 of then security plan, which will also ensure smooth flow of traffic in the area.
