Defence Housing Authority (DHA) is facing a financial crisis that has compelled President, DHA Executive Board, Lt Gen. Ahsan Azhar Hayat to direct the DHA to minimise its revenue expenditures and bring down the cost of establishment in view of the budget deficit.

The Board was informed that infrastructure work on new storm water drainage system in the DHA has been successfully completed in the last fiscal year. The drainage project comprising a network of main trunk drains, interceptor drains, water supply and sewerage works entailed an expenditure of Rs2.3 billion causing huge financial burden on DHA.

The financial precautionary note was made in the meeting of the DHA Executive Board chaired by Hayat. He directed DHA to ensure that rehabilitation and repair of roads affected due to the drainage works should be undertaken at the earliest. He asked the DHA to ensure that the least amount of inconvenience is caused to the residents during the execution of the remaining work on the drainage project in DHA.

The Executive Board reviewed the pace of development of Ph-VIII and Hayat directed DHA to take all possible measures to ensure timely development and provision of utility services in Sectors A and B of Phase-VIII. The Board also reviewed the standard of sanitation and cleanliness in DHA and appreciated the support of the residents in the Solid Waste Management Scheme. The Corps Commander directed DHA to ensure continuous improvement in garbage collection and sanitation to give a neat look to the area.
