CAPITAL City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Pervez Rathore has said that all record of Lahore police is being computerised, which will enable every citizen of Lahore to check his FIR by inserting the name of the police station and the FIR number along with getting necessary feedback regarding progress made in the case by the police.

In his talk, CCPO said that an active consideration was also being given to a system whereby every citizen of Lahore would be able to inform about any crime on the internet which could later be converted into FIR. Muhammad Pervez Rathore apprised that now Lahore police were using the computer generated graphics instead of traditional paper and pencil to make the outlines of culprits whereas pictures and finger prints of jailed criminals would also be traced on the computer.

The CCPO said that a new system was being evolved regarding traffic challans whereby through NIC, the number of challans of the driver concerned could be ascertained on the basis of which his punishment would be proposed. Muhammad Pervez Rathore disclosed that record of stolen vehicles of all districts and provinces was being interlinked through computer in order to eliminate incidents of motorcycle and car-lifting and car-snatching. The CCPO added that efforts were being made to make Lahore police a model police force. He said the process of successfully tracing culprits through latest technology had been initiated, and necessary scanners required in this regard would soon be available to the Lahore police due to which the process of tracing and arresting more culprits would be considerably expedited.
