LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge directed the Shadman police SHO to register a case against the son of Mian Manzoor Wattoo, the minister for industries on Thursday.

The judge issued the order against Muazzam Wattoo on the request of Rana Munawar Ali, who, in an application, alleged that Muazzam was in illegal possession of his Honda Civic for the last seven years.

He said that he bought a Honda Civic car in 2002, and put it on rent through his friend Arshad, who was running a rent-a-car business in Samanabad.

Ali said that Muazzam took his car on rent from Arshad on a monthly basis at Rs 25,000 per month. He added that his friend Arshad went to jail due to some business dispute and Muazzam stopped paying rent for the car. When he asked the accused about the rent, he refused to pay and told Ali that he would only pay the rent to Arshad.

Munawar said that Arshad had come out of jail now, and when he asked for the car back along with the rent Muazzam simply refused, and warned them of dire consequences if the issue was brought up again.

He said the petition was taken to Shadman police, but they refused to register a case against the accused due to his father’s political influence. However, the petitioner moved the application in the sessions court, on which the court issued directions for the registration of a case against Muazzam Wattoo.
