Irresponsible motorists to get tickets from September 1

RAWALPINDI: The city traffic police will launch a campaign from September 1 to ticket motorists traveling without registration plates and headlights and using police lights and tinted glasses.

A police handout said that 10 squads had been constituted to issue tickets for traffic violations. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Raja Riffat Mukhtar will supervise the campaign.

The CTO said that from September 1, they would not spare any motorist traveling without registration plates and headlights and using tinted glasses and police lights. He advised the motorists to follow the law before a strict action by the police.

The CTO urged the citizens to help the police in ensuing a smooth flow of traffic by following the traffic rules.

15 shopkeepers fined: Special Price Magistrate Saeed Toor on Tuesday fined 15 shopkeepers Rs 30,000 for overcharging during a surprise visit to different markets of the city. He also registered cases against three vendors, said a press release.

On the occasion, the magistrate said it was the responsibility of public to ask shopkeepers for displaying price list at appropriate place. In the last week, the authority imposed Rs 29, 500 fine on 14 shopkeepers for overcharging. Citizens could register their complaint on 0333-5169748, he added. staff report
