The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has formed a task force to deal with the problems being faced by traders and general public in city’s shopping centres.

Director (Staff) to CDA Chairman Syed Iftikhar Shah has been appointed as head of the task force constituted by the authority’s chairman, Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, following his visit to Markaz F-10 where he had detailed deliberations with the representatives of traders community who informed him about the problems they are confronted with.

“Redressal of citizens’ grievances and provision of civic facilities is the responsibility of the CDA for which, we should make all out efforts to come up to the expectations of the citizens,” the chairman said in a meeting held here on Friday in which he approved formation of the task force.

“There will be market coordinators in each Markaz of the city who will collaborate with the representatives of the traders and conduct a round of the whole shopping centre. In the beginning they will be deployed in the Markaz, but later they will be deployed in each market,” CDA spokesman Syed Mustafain Kazmi told ‘The News’.

He said that they will check and attend to the complaints regarding street lights, cleanliness, littering, public toilets, encroachments, sewerage, over-flowing gutters, repair of footpaths, water leakages, illegal constructions and maintaining the parking areas. Market coordinators would immediately report any matter needing attention to the concerned directorate in the authority for action.

The coordinators will remain present in the ‘Markaz’ from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during which they will note down and report the issues regarding their respective Markaz and would keep close liaison with the traders’ welfare associations and the general public,” he added.

“The head of the task force will report to the chairman if there were any issues remain unresolved,” he added
