A ban has been imposed on marriage and other parties taking place after 11:00 p.m. in the Rawalpindi city.

The ban was imposed after a meeting held with District Coordination Officer (DCO) Imdadullah Bosal in the chair here on Thursday. Officials of the district administration, police and representatives of Marriage Hall Association (MHA) attended the meeting.

The DCO also put ban on fireworks, decoration lighting of marriage halls and aerial firing.

The meeting decided that there would be a strict ban on serving more than one dish at the marriage parties and in case of any violation; the administration would take action not only against the marriage hall administration, but also against the hosts of the marriage party.

The TMOs were tasked to check violations with the help of police.

The DCO said that in Lahore it is mandatory for the hall administrations to wind up marriage parties before 10:00 p.m., however, on special request of the people the district administration has relaxed one hour for the residents of Rawalpindi.

CPO Rao Muhammad Iqbal told the meeting that risk of terrorist activity increases at a place where more people are gathered.

He asked the owners of marriage halls to display a code of conduct at their halls.
