* Former PM briefed on various improvement projects

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif visited Jallo Park by helicopter and was briefed on various development projects for 35 minutes.
A helipad was prepared on emergency basis due to sudden arrival of the PML-N chief. Punjab Chief Secretary Javed Mehmood, the director general of the Parks and Horticulture Authority, and the forest and housing secretaries briefed him on the improvement plans of the parks and forests. He was also briefed on a plant, which is being installed to clean the water in River Ravi.
A day earlier, Nawaz went to the Lahore Fort where the officials of the Archaeology Department briefed him on the renovation project of the fort. The PML-N chief directed the officials to build a restaurant in the fort and also make arrangements to brief the visitors on the historical background of the monument. He told the officials to speed up the pace of work and said he would visit again after a week.
Earlier, Nawaz also inspected the Lahore Ring Road project from the helicopter and the officials concerned briefed him on various details of the project.
Stern security measures were taken in both places, as the news of his arrival was kept confidential. Members of the National Assembly Hamza Shahabz and Khawaja Saad Rafiq also accompanied him during the visit.
