LAHORE: Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer has said the government will not be detrred by a handful of terrorists, a private TV channel reported on Sunday.

The governor was visiting the Anarkali Food Street without his protocol or security, accepting a challenge by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah. According to the channel, the governor visited the food street with his friends, and had dinner there. Visitors to the food street were surprised to see the governor in their midst without any protocol, the channel reported. The channel said Taseer mixed with the people.

No fear: He said he feared no one but Allah. “I have come with the message that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership will stand by the people through thick and thin,” he was quoted as saying.

By-polls: The governor said he was not in favour of the by-polls in Punjab being postponed, but respected the verdict of the Lahore High Court, the channel reported. He lauded the bravery of the martyrs who fought the terrorists who attacked the military headquarters in Rawalpindi.
