LAHORE: City Traffic Officer (CTO) Intisar Hussain has said the Traffic Police will start a campaign from Monday (tomorrow) against under-age drivers and people driving without a proper licence, a private TV channel reported on Saturday.

The CTO was talking to reporters after distributing pamphlets about traffic rules. He said under-age drivers would be detained in police stations. He said the Traffic Police would continue to highlight traffic rules during the ‘Silence Day’ campaign, the channel reported.

The channel quoted the CTO as saying the Traffic Police would issue tickets to drivers who would use horns outside educational institutions, hospitals and religious places. The CTO said the campaign to spread awareness among people about traffic rules would continue throughout the month, the channel reported. He said the Traffic Police would only educate people during the campaign.

The channel said the CTO appealed to parents not to hand over car keys to children until they turn 18 years of age.
