ISLAMABAD: Housing and Works Minister Rehmatullah Kakar Saturday directed the Estate Office to make it sure that the houses allotted to the federal government employees were not utilized for commercial purposes. The minister made it clear that the official residences allotted to the federal government employees being utilized for commercial purposes would be canceled immediately and directed the Pak-PWD and Estate Office to take a prompt action in recovering rent of the government buildings and houses and keep an updated account in this regard. According to the sources in the ministry, Kakar said this while presiding over a meeting to review the ongoing housing projects. The minister said that timely completion of housing projects would not only benefit the shelterless people by providing accommodation under the Prime Minister’s Housing for All Programme, but also help in generating socio-economic activities in the country. He directed the Pak-PWD to ensure proper maintenance of the government buildings, residential accommodations Kakar said that the government was striving to mitigate the problems of the shelterless people by constructing one million housing units in the country under the Prime Minister’s Housing for All Programme. He said the country had skilled manpower to participate in the international mega housing projects and explore the avenues of cooperation with the multinational construction companies for the mutual advantage. The minister said that the country was endowed with an enormous potential of multi-dimensional expertise in the construction sector. app
