The computerisation of Revenue Department is pending for last eight years, as none of the districts in Punjab could computerise their land record.

The general public has demanded of the concerned authorities to computerise the Revenue Department as manual system creates problems for them.

Khawar Abbasi, a landowner, told ‘The News’ that officials of the Revenue Department were delaying the process because nobody would be ready to give them bribe after the computerisation of record.

On the other hand, the Revenue Department officials say that the delay in computerisation was because of lack of proper software to cover all parameters of the department.

Executive District Officer Revenue Zubair Khan, when contacted by ‘The News,’ said: “There are piles and piles of documents that need a proper software.” He admitted that after computerisation of the revenue record, people’s problems would be solved and they could get their references after downloading them from the designated websites. He said that the project is under process for last eight years, but it could not be implemented so far. He said that the record of two cities of Punjab was computerised on trial basis, but the plan has not been executed because of software problems in it. To a question, he said, “I don’t know how much time this project would take and what the government had decided about it.”
